Hamilton Tiger-Cats dominate Alouettes to advance to the Eastern Final

On a snowy Sunday afternoon, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats took one step closer to the Grey Cup with a convincing 23-12 win over the Montreal Alouettes.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats quarterback Jeremiah Masoli went 18/28 for 184-yards, one touchdown, and two carries for five yards.

Masoli’s touchdown happened in the second quarter from the pocket, throwing the ball up in the air as Brandon Banks blew by two Alouettes players for a 20-yard touchdown that put them up 7-3 with 7:02 left. Banks led the receivers with five catches for 58-yards and one touchdown.

Running back Don Jackson led the Tiger-Cats rushing with 13 carries for 46-yards, one touchdown, and two catches for three yards. Jackson’s touchdown happened in the second quarter running up the middle for a five-yard touchdown that extended the lead 14-3 with 2:36 left.

Kicker Michael Domagala was a perfect 3/3 with his longest field goal for 38-yards. The defense recorded six sacks. Dylan Wynn and Ja’Gared Howsare each had two sacks, one interception, three forced fumbles, and four fumble recoveries.

 Montreal Alouettes quarterback Trevor Harris was 28/44 for 364-yards, one touchdown, one interception, and one carry for ten yards. Harris’s touchdown came in the third quarter when he threw a 28-yard touchdown pass to Eugene Lewis that cut the Tiger-Cats lead 20-10 with 8:33 left. Lewis led the Alouettes receivers with six catches for 127-yards and one touchdown.

Running back William Stanback had 12 carries for 29-yards, kicker David Cote made one field for 17-yards, and the defense recorded one sack and forced fumble.

Late in the fourth quarter, the Alouettes got a safety after the Tiger-Cats took a knee in the endzone, making it 23-12 with 1:27 left.

The Tiger-Cats head to BMO Field against the Toronto Argonauts in the Eastern Final for the right to play in the 108th Grey Cup next Sunday, December 5th, at 1 pm on ESPNEWS.
