The Lehigh Valley Phantoms recalled goalie Pat Nagle from the Reading Royals on Wednesday. This will be his second stint with the team.
The 34-year-old from Bloomfield Township, Minnesota, played one game for the Phantoms back on November 20th, against the Toronto Marlies. He made 16 of 19 saves in a 3-2 overtime loss. This year with the Royals, he played twelve games with a record of 7-2-2, allowing 31 goals (2.58 GAA), 424 saves (.927 SV%), and one shutout.
Last season, Nagle played for the Grand Rapids Griffins, an AHL affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings. He played twelve games with a 6-6 record with 256 saves and allowed 31 goals. Nagle has played 40 games in the AHL with Rochester, Stockton, and Grand Rapids, with a record of 16-18-2, 956 saves (.906%), and allowed 99 goals (2.68 GAA).
His overall record in the ECHL is 196-84-36 is ranked fifth all-time in ECHL history. Nagle was part of the Florida Everblades 2011-12 Kelly Cup championship team. He had a league-best 1.42 goals-against average in the playoffs. Nagle was named to the 2017-18 All-ECHL Second Team with a league-leading 37 wins.
During the 2018-19 season, Nagle split his time in Toledo and Grand Rapids. He led the Toledo Walleye to the Kelly Cup finals, but the Walleye lost to the Newfoundland Growlers 4-2. Then, in Grand Rapids, he had his best season in the AHL with a record of 9-8-1, 509 saves (.920 SV%), and allowed 44 goals (2.32 GAA).
In addition to recalling Nagle, the Phantoms assigned defensemen Mason Millman and Ryan MacKinnon to the Reading Royals.
Mason Millman is a 20-year-old from London, Ontario, played two games for the Phantoms before sustaining a fractured kneecap that has sidelined him. He was drafted in the fourth round by the Flyers in the 2019 NHL Draft.
Last season, Millman played 13 games with three assists (3 points). Before joining the Phantoms, he played 130 games for three seasons in the OHL with the Saginaw Spirit. He scored 16 goals and 53 assists (69 points).
Ryan MacKinnon is a 27-year-old from Summerside, Prince Edward Island. MacKinnon played four games this year with one shot on goal. Before joining the Phantoms, he played 17 career games in three seasons with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers and had three assists. MacKinnon has also played in the ECHL with the Worcester Railers, playing 124 games with eleven goals and 39 assists.
The Phantoms next game is Saturday, December 11th, against the Cleveland Monsters at 7:05 pm from the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.
