On Thursday, Dreyer & Reinbold Racing announced they will field two cars at the 2022 Indianapolis 500 with drivers Sage Karam and Santino Ferrucci. Karam will drive the #24, and Ferrucci will drive the #23.
Since 1999, Dreyer & Reinbold Racing have entered and qualified 43 cars in the Indy 500. Their best finish was fourth in the 2012 Indy 500 driven by Oriol Servia.
Sage Karam, a 26-year-old from Nazareth, Pennsylvania, has competed in 24 IndyCar races with one podium finish in 2015 at Iowa Speedway.
This year, Karam only competed in one IndyCar race with DRR, four starts in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, and one start in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Karam has won championships in the USF2000 (2010) and Indy Lights (2013).
Karam on returning DRR said, “We are coming off a high from last year, and the goal is to be even better in the 2022 Indy 500.”
Santino Ferrucci, a 23-year-old from Woodbury, Connecticut, has competed in 40 IndyCar races. Ferrucci competed in five races for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing this year and made seven starts in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.
Ferrucci on joining DRR said, “I am super thrilled to join DRR. Nothing is better than being a part of a team that has such high work ethic. The team’s attention to detail is comparable to top teams in the series.”
Team owner Dennis Reinbold on adding Ferrucci and Karam said. “We believe the talent and value of these drivers will be important in helping the team achieve the ultimate goal of winning the Greatest Spectacle in Racing.”
Reinbold added, “We, at DRR, have been improving our Indy 500 program with the singular goal of winning the race. Sage and Santino have exceptional talent and are key components for us to achieve the goal.”
The 2022 NTT IndyCar season starts on Sunday, February 27th, from the streets of St. Peterburg on NBC.
