Ocean City Nor'easters

The Ocean City Nor’easters, a member of USL League 2, is hosting two open tryouts for the upcoming 2022 USL League 2 season. Both tryouts take place at Carey Stadium (“The Beach House”) in Ocean City, NJ.

The first open tryout happens on Tuesday, December 28th (6 pm – 9 pm), and the second tryout is on Saturday, January 2nd (9 am – 12 pm). The cost to participate in one session is $60, or $90 to attend both tryouts. Head coach Kevin Nuss and his staff will be there to evaluate talent.

Nuss on the tryouts said, “Tryouts are a valuable resource to provide players a pathway to our first team and beyond. I am excited to see the talent in attendance and to find some undiscovered players.”

The Nor’easters will celebrate their 25th year in USL League 2 next season. The Nor’easters finished 9-2-3 (30 points) this year, qualifying for the playoffs. Their season came to an end in the Semi-Finals against West Chester United SC.

On the tryouts, Ocean City Sporting Director Tim Oswald said, “Each year we look forward to this event. We always have talented players on display, and we have had great success filling out not only our first-team USL2 roster but also our Reserve and Under-23 teams. I think if players want to compete at a high level in the right pyramid and tiered development structure, our model has proven to be effective. We are excited to build another fantastic squad in 2022.”

The Nor’easters were founded in 1996 as the South Jersey Barons in the Premier Development League (PDL). Since 2003, the Nor’easters have the fifth-best record in the league and seventh-most wins in history.

There have had 26 players drafted into Major League Soccer, including 2019 USL League Two MVP Deri Corfe.

Players interested in tryouts can sign up or contact the team office at (609) 432-8371 or send an email to tryout@oceancityfc.com for additional questions.
