On Friday, the Calgary Stampeders restructured quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell’s contract. According to 3DownNation’s Justin Dunk, the new contract will see Mitchell make $40,000 less from what he was originally set to make in 2022.

His new contract is worth $425,000, including a $100,000 signing bonus. He is in the final year of his contract after signing the deal back in 2019.

Bo Levi Mitchell played eleven games in 2021 with 211 completions for 2,594 yards, ten touchdowns, 13 interceptions, and four carries for 19 yards. He will enter his tenth season with the Stampeders, winning two Grey Cup championships and two Canadian Football League’s Most Outstanding Player awards.

Bo Levi Mitchell on restructuring the deal said. “With the changing environment in the CFL over the past few years due to many circumstances, I understand that to have a winning team it is in my best interest to restructure my contract to allow us to re-sign Jake Maier, as well as other players.”

Mitchell added, “Having another winning QB in the room will only make us stronger. My driving force still is and always will be, to be the best QB for the Calgary Stampeders that I can be, and I look forward to a successful 2022 season.”

In 147 games, Mitchell has completed 2,336 passes for 30,531 yards, 179 touchdowns, 83 interceptions, 162 carries for 746 yards, and 14 touchdowns.

John Hufnagel, President and General Manager of the Stampeders on Mitchell’s new deal said, “I’m very pleased that Bo yet again has demonstrated a team-first mentality. I look forward to seeing him continue his winning ways on the field.”

Head coach Dave Dickenson on Mitchell said, “I’m excited to have Bo back, and I’m thankful that he again has shown himself to be a great leader. The quarterback position will be a strength of our team, and I’m really looking forward to the 2022 season.”
