On Thursday, the Edmonton Elks announced the re-signing of linebacker Maxime Rouyer to a two-year extension. The Elks also released defensive lineman Chris Nelson.
Maxime Rouyer played one game for the Elks on special teams with one tackle. He was limited in 2021 with a toe injury. His lone appearance came in week ten against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. In 2019, Rouyer played 17 games with three special teams tackles.
Chris Nelson played four games for the Elks in 2021 with six tackles. Nelson played 45 games in four years at Texas with 109 tackles, 3.5 sacks, one pass defended, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. Nelson helped Texas win two bowl games, the Texas Bowl in 2017 and the Sugar Bowl in 2019.
After college, Nelson went undrafted in the 2019 NFL Draft. He had stints with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Tennessee Titans in training camp.
