On Friday, the Toronto Argonauts re-signed defensive back Robertson Daniel to a one-year extension while signing wide receiver Earnest Edwards to a one-year contract. Daniel was scheduled to become a free agent on February 8th.
Robertson Daniel played two games in 2021 due to injury with five tackles, one special teams tackle, and one interception. Daniel will enter his second season with the Argonauts and third in the CFL after spending the 2019 season with the Calgary Stampeders.
He played eight games for the Stampeders with 21 tackles, six special teams tackles, and three interceptions.
Before joining the CFL, Daniel played two seasons at BYU after transferring from De Anza College. He played 25 games with the Cougars 110 tackles, one sack, three interceptions, three forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries.
After going undrafted in the 2015 NFL Draft, Daniel had stints with the Oakland Raiders, Green Bay Packers, Washington Redskins, and Baltimore Ravens.
Earnest Edwards played seven games for the Edmonton Elks with 15 catches for 168 yards, one touchdown, and two carries for seven yards. On special teams, Edwards had 18 punt returns for 96 yards and 12 kickoff returns for 203-yards.
Edwards went undrafted in the 2020 NFL Draft out of Maine and was signed by the Los Angeles Rams but was released at the end of training camp.
Edwards played 40 games in four seasons in college with 125 catches for 2,370 yards, 23 touchdowns, and 59 carries for 438-yards and two touchdowns.
