On Monday, former Winnipeg Blue Bombers defensive back DeAundre Alford and Saskatchewan Roughriders wide receiver Brayden Lenius signed with the Atlanta Falcons.
DeAundre Alford had a breakout year in Winnipeg, playing 14 games with 48 tackles, four interceptions, one touchdown, and one forced fumble on his way to helping the Blue Bombers win their second consecutive Grey Cup championship. Alford was selected as a CFL All-Star and CFL West All-Star.
Alford joined the Blue Bombers after an outstanding collegiate career at Tusculum University. He played 40 games in four seasons with 140 tackles, two sacks, three forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, 30 pass breakups, and ten interceptions.
In 2019, Alford led the SAC conference with 20 pass breakups and team-best five interceptions (3rd in SAC/ 25th in NCAA II). He was selected to the D2CCA All-Region First Team and All-South Atlantic Conference First Team. In 2017 and 2018, he was named All-South Atlantic Conference Second Team.
Brayden Lenius played 14 games in 2021 with 37 catches for 471 yards and four touchdowns.
The Roughriders drafted Lenius in the second round of the 2019 CFL Draft out of New Mexico. Lenius graduated from Washington and transferred to New Mexico in 2018.
In 40 career games at Washington, Lenius had 42 catches for 452 yards and three touchdowns. Lenius played 25 games in two seasons with the Roughriders with 39 catches for 475 yards and four touchdowns.
