Edmonton Elks sign LB Matthew Thomas and QB Kai Locksley

On Wednesday, the Edmonton Elks signed linebacker Matthew Thomas and former UTEP quarterback Kai Locksley.

Matthew Thomas spent part of the 2021 season with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, playing one game with two special teams tackles.

Thomas signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers as an undrafted free agent from Florida State. He played ten games with the Steelers and had a tryout with the Baltimore Ravens but was cut during training camp. In 2020, he tried out for the St. Louis Battlehawks of the XFL but was cut during training camp.

Matthew Thomas played 37 games at Florida State (2013-17) with 192 tackles, four sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and one interception.

Kai Locksley signed with the Miami Dolphins in March of 2021 and played wide receiver. He was cut during training camp.

At UTEP, Locksley played 20 games in two seasons (2018-19) with 186 completions for 2,266 yards, nine touchdowns, 14 interceptions, 237 carries for 875 yards, and 11 touchdowns.
