On Wednesday night, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats re-signed quarterback Dane Evans to a two-year contract extension that will keep him in black and gold through the 2023 season.

Dane Evans played ten games in 2021 with 69 completions for 787 yards, six touchdowns, three interceptions, 20 carries for 114 yards, and three touchdowns. He helped the Tiger-Cats reach the 108th Grey Cup but suffered a neck injury and was out of the game.

The President of Football Operations and Head Coach Orlondo Steinauer on re-signing Evans said. “We are excited that Dane and his family have chosen to stay in Hamilton for the next two seasons. Dane is not just an outstanding quarterback, but an outstanding human being.  His work ethic and authentic leadership skills make him someone that teammates naturally appreciate.”

Evans signed with the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent out of Tulsa. The Eagles cut him after training camp. A month later, he signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

During his collegiate career at Tulsa (2013-16), Evans played 46 games with 904 completed passes for 11,668 yards, 84 touchdowns, 47 interceptions, 244 carries for 72 yards, and ten touchdowns.

In 46 career games, Evans has 393 completions, 4,924 yards, 29 touchdowns, 18 interceptions, 66 carries for 309 yards, and six touchdowns.
