Edmonton Elks acquire OL Tony Washington and RB Martese Jackson from Montreal

On Friday, the Edmonton Elks and Montreal Alouettes made a trade. The Elks acquired offensive lineman Tony Washington and running back Martese Jackson for defensive lineman Mike Moore.

Shortly after the trade, the Elks signed offensive lineman Nicholas Summach.

Martese Jackson returns to Edmonton after spending one year in Montreal. He played three games for the Alouettes 16 punt returns for 132 yards, and one kickoff return for 16 yards.

Jackson played three seasons at Florida Atlantic University after transferring from Fort Scott Community College. He played in 21 games for the Owls and had 71 carries for 278 yards, one touchdown, and five carries for 38 yards.

After college, Jackson signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 2016 but was released during training camp. He joined the Montreal Alouettes shortly after his release.

In 2017, Jackson signed with the Toronto Argonauts. He played 27 games in two seasons and had 23 carries for 103 yards, 23 catches for 174 yards, and one touchdown. He had two punt returns for touchdowns and one missed field goal returned for a touchdown on special teams. Jackson was part of the Argonauts 2017 Grey Cup championship team.

Martese Jackson was traded on September 10th, 2018, to the Edmonton Eskimos. He spent the rest of 2018 and 2019 with them. He played in twelve games with three carries for 25 yards, one touchdown, and eight catches for 67 yards.

Tony Washington played 12 games for the Alouettes. In 2011, he came to the CFL, signing with the Calgary Stampeders. He has made 129 career starts with the Stampeders, Argonauts, Eskimos, Tiger-Cats, and Alouettes. Washington is a two-time Grey Cup champion with the Toronto Argonauts and Edmonton Eskimos.

In addition, Washington agreed to a one-year contract extension. He was scheduled to be a free agent on February 8th.

Mike Moore played 11 games in 2021 with 19 tackles and two sacks. On August 7th, against the Ottawa Redblacks, Moore had two sacks. The six-year veteran has played 48 career games with 69 tackles, 17 sacks, and one forced fumble.

Moore joined the CFL in 2016 with the Ottawa Redblacks and played eight games with ten tackles, two sacks, and one forced fumble. He spent the last four seasons in Edmonton.

Nicholas Summach played the last five seasons at the University of Saskatchewan. The Elks drafted Summach in the seventh round (57th pick) in the 2020 CFL Draft. He was part of the 2018 and 2021 Hardy Cup championship teams.
