On Sunday, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers re-signed linebacker Jesse Briggs to a one-year contract extension. Briggs was scheduled to be a free agent on February 8th.
Jesse Briggs played 13 games in 2021 with 24 tackles, five special teams tackles, one touchdown, and one forced fumble, helping the Blue Bombers win their second straight Grey Cup championship.
The Blue Bombers drafted Briggs in the second round (17th pick) in the 2014 CFL Draft out of McGill. In 104 careers games, Briggs has 44 tackles, 62 special teams tackles, one touchdown, and one forced fumble. This will be his eighth season in Winnipeg.
The Blue Bombers open the 2022 season on June 10th against the Ottawa Redblacks.
