Calgary Stampeders

On Wednesday, the Calgary Stampeders re-signed offensive lineman Sean McEwen to a two-contract extension, keeping him through the 2023 season.

Sean McEwen played 14 games in his first season in Calgary. He spent the first four seasons (2016-19) with the Toronto Argonauts, playing 72 games.

McEwen was happy to return to the Stampeders. “I’m so excited to continue to be a part of the Stampeder family. This organization knows what it takes to win, and we want nothing more than to bring this great city a championship.”

The Argonauts drafted McEwen in the first round (3rd pick) in the 2015 CFL Draft out of the University of Calgary.

McEwen is a two-time CFL All-Star, two-time CFL West All-Star, and a 2017 Leo Dandurand Trophy award winner for the Most Outstanding Lineman.

The President and General Manager John Hufnagel on re-signing McEwen said. “Sean provided strength, stability, and leadership during his first season as a Stampeder, and he performed at an all-star caliber. I’m very pleased he has made this commitment to the team, and his presence goes a long way towards solidifying our offensive line.”
