On Thursday, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers re-signed veteran linebacker Adam Bighill to a one-year contract extension. Bighill was scheduled to be a free agent next month.
Adam Bighill played 14 games in 2021 with 70 tackles, two sacks, two interceptions, and one touchdown. He helped the Blue Bombers win their second straight Grey Cup championship and third of his career. The 2022 season will be his fourth year with the Blue Bombers and his tenth in the CFL.
Bighill is a future CFL Hall of Famer. He is a six-time CFL West All-Star, six-time CFL All-Star, three-time CFL’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player, and a three-time Norm Fieldgate Trophy winner for best defensive player in the Western Division.
Adam Bighill went undrafted in the 2011 NFL Draft out of Central Washington and signed with the BC Lions.
He spent the first six seasons with the Lions, playing 99 games with 489 tackles, 69 special teams tackles, 33 sacks, eight interceptions, one touchdown, and eight forced fumbles.
In his first season, Bighill played 12 games with seven tackles and 12 special teams tackles, helping the Lions win the Grey Cup in 2011 over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
In nine seasons in the CFL, Bighill has played 146 games with 725 tackles, 70 special teams tackles, 43 sacks, 14 interceptions, three touchdowns, and 14 forced fumbles.
