CFL West All-Star DB Mike Edem staying in Saskatchewan

Saskatchewan Roughriders

On Friday, the Saskatchewan Roughriders re-signed defensive back Mike Edem to a one-year contract extension. It will be Edem’s fifth season with the Roughriders.

Mike Edem played five games in 2021 with 11 tackles and one forced fumble. The Montreal Alouettes drafted Edem in the first round (3rd pick) of the 2013 CFL Draft out of the University of Calgary.

Edem played three seasons (2013-15) for Montreal before being traded to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in October 2015. After the Tiger-Cats, Edem signed with the BC Lions and played 17 games with 37 tackles and two interceptions.

In 2017, the Lions traded Edem, and a conditional draft pick to the Roughriders for a conditional draft pick in the 2018 CFL Draft.

In 116 career games, Edem has 250 tackles, 57 special teams tackles, eight sacks, eight interceptions, and six forced fumbles. He is a one-time CFL East All-Star for the Montreal Alouettes and a 2019 CFL West All-Star for the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
