Hamilton Tiger-Cats bring back three players, including QB Jalen Morton

On Monday, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats re-signed quarterback Jalen Morton, defensive lineman Ronheen Bingham, and wide receiver Emmanuel Butler.

Jalen Morton was on the Tiger-Cats practice squad in 2021. In 2019, Morton spent time with the Green Bay Packers and Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent from Prairie View A&M University.

While at Prairie View A&M, Morton had 357 completions for 5,070 yards, 42 touchdowns, 28 interceptions, 260 carries for 1,468 yards, and 19 touchdowns. In 2016, Morton was named SWAC Newcomer of the Week.

Ronheen Bingham was on the Tiger-Cats practice squad in 2021. Bingham spent two seasons at Hutchinson Community College (2015-16) before transferring to Arkansas State for two more seasons (2017-18). He played 25 games for the Red Wolves with 87 tackles, 14 sacks, five passes defended, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery.

Emmanuel Butler was with the Tiger-Cats during training camp in 2021 before being released. He signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent from Northern Arizona and was on their practice squad for two seasons (2017-18).

At Northern Arizona, Butler played five seasons (2014-18) with 187 catches for 3,217 yards and 33 touchdowns. Butler is a two-time All-Big Sky First Team (2015-16), 2015 Sporting News Fab Fifty-First Team, 2015 Associated Press First Team All-America, 2015 STATS Second Team All-America, and 2018 HERO Sports Preseason All-America Third Team.
