Offensive Lineman Zach Williams re-signs with the Calgary Stampeders

Calgary Stampeders

On Monday, the Calgary Stampeders re-signed offensive lineman Zach Williams to a one-year contract extension. Williams was scheduled to be a free agent on February 8th.

Zach Williams played 14 games in 2021 at left guard. The Stampeders drafted Williams in the third round (28th pick) in the 2019 CFL Draft out of Manitoba. Williams has played 16 career games with the Stampeders.

Zach Williams on returning to the Stampeders said, “I’m thankful to the Stampeders organization for this opportunity, and I’m looking forward to the season. I believe we have the players and coaches in place to be a serious contender for the Grey Cup.”

Williams was part of an offense that allowed the second-fewest sacks in the league while helping running back Ka’Deem Carey finish second in rushing yards and yards from scrimmage and led all running backs with seven touchdowns.

John Hufnagel, President and General Manager of the Stampeders, on bringing back Williams said. “We feel the offensive line will again be a strength for us in 2022, and after establishing himself as a starter last season, Zack should be a big part of that unit. I was very pleased with Zack’s progress in 2021 and look forward to seeing him continue to develop and further raise his game.”
