BC Lions

On Friday, the B.C. Lions re-signed wide receiver Bryan Burnham to a one-year contract extension. Burnham was scheduled to be a free agent next month.

Bryan Burnham played 14 games in 2021 with 67 catches for 965-yards and five touchdowns. This will be Burnham’s eighth season in orange and black after joining the Lions in 2014 out of Tulsa. Burnham is a three-time CFL All-Star (2017-19, 2021) and a three-time CFL West All-Star (2017-19, 2021).

Bryan Burnham on returning to the Lions said, “I’m excited and grateful for the opportunity to stay with the only organization I’ve ever known. This is the best situation for my wife Aubrey and I to continue to be involved in the community. We also still have unfinished business in BC with the goal to bring the Grey Cup back to the West Coast.”

A native of Moorestown, New Jersey, Burnham has played 96 career games with the Lions (2014-2021), catching 435 passes for 6,616 yards, 38 touchdowns, and five carries for 30-yards. On special teams, Burnham had one punt return for seven yards.

In 2016, Burnham had a breakout season, catching 79 passes for 1,392 yards and three touchdowns. He was scheduled to be a free agent and tried out for the Minnesota Vikings and New York Jets before re-signing with the Lions in 2017.

On bring back Burnham, B.C. Lions Head Coach and Co-GM Rick Campbell said, “Bryan epitomizes the type of players and people we want in our locker room. Beyond the ability to make great plays on the field, his work ethic and ability to lead by example in practices and games puts us in a position to be successful.”
