Saskatchewan Roughriders lock up K Brett Lauther with a two-year extension

On Saturday, the Saskatchewan Roughriders locked up 2018 CFL West All-Star kicker Brett Lauther to a two-year contract extension through the 2023 season. This will be Lauther’s fourth season in Saskatchewan.

Brett Lauther made 40 of 47 field goals (85.1%) in 2021, with his longest being 54 yards. He kicked the game-winning 34-yard field goal in the 2021 Western Semifinal against the Calgary Stampeders. Lauther’s punted the ball four times for 100-yards.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats drafted Lauther in the seventh round (53rd pick) in the 2013 CFL Draft out of St. Mary’s University.

Between 2015-17, Lauther was on the practice squad for the Roughriders twice, Edmonton Eskimos and Toronto Argonauts, before returning to the Roughriders for the third time in 2018. Lauther’s played 49 games in four seasons, making 132 of 158 field goals (83.5%) with his longest field for 57-yards in 2019.
