On Tuesday, the BC Lions re-signed defensive back Garry Peters to a one-year contract extension through the 2022 season. Peters was scheduled to be a free agent next week.
Garry Peters played 14 games in 2021 with 46 tackles and four special teams tackles. Peters will enter his fourth year with the Lions.
After signing with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent in 2015 out of Clemson, Peters did not make the team and signed with the Edmonton Eskimos in 2016.
Peters spent two seasons (2016-17) for the Eskimos, playing 19 games with 59 tackles and eight special teams tackles.
In 2018, he signed with the Lions. Peters has played 50 games in BC with 182 tackles, six special teams tackles, four interceptions, and one forced fumble.
Peters played 45 games in four seasons (2011-14) at Clemson with 106 tackles, two sacks, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery. In 2012, the Tigers won the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl over LSU and earned First-Team All-ACC honors as a senior in 2014.
