On Monday, the BC Lions re-signed veteran offensive lineman Joel Figueroa to a one-year contract extension.
Joel Figueroa is entering his ninth season, fourth with the Lions. He played 12 games in 2021 at left tackle. The Lions’ offense helped Mike Reilly become the CFL passing leader.
The Miami native signed with Hamilton Tiger-Cats and played 26 games in three seasons (2013-15) in Hamilton, helping them reach the 2013 and 2014 Grey Cup.
In 2016, he signed with the Edmonton Eskimos and played 18 games in two seasons (2016-17). Then in 2018, he joined the BC Lions, playing 46 games in three seasons with the Lions.
Figueroa played 43 games in five seasons at the University of Miami (2006-11), making three bowl appearances in the 2008 Emerald Bowl, 2009 Champs Sports Bowl, and the 2010 Sun Bowl.
