Winnipeg Blue Bombers extends WR Drew Wolitarsky and OL Michael Couture

On Monday, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers re-signed wide receiver Drew Wolitarsky to a two-year contract extension through the 2023 season. This will be Wolitarsky’s fifth season with the Blue Bombers.

In addition, the Blue Bombers re-signed offensive lineman Michael Couture to a one-year contract extension.

Drew Wolitarsky played 14 games in 2021, with 32 catches for 386-yards and one touchdown. The Blue Bombers drafted Wolitarsky in the 2017 supplemental draft and forfeited a third-round pick in the 2018 CFL Draft. Wolitarsky helped the Blue Bombers win two Grey Cup championships.

In four seasons with the Blue Bombers, Wolitarsky played 54 games with 111 catches for 1,412 yards and ten touchdowns.

Wolitarsky played 34 career games in three seasons (2013-16) at the University of Minnesota with 130 catches for 1,749 yards, nine touchdowns, and three carries for six yards. Wolitarsky was named All-Big Ten Third Team and Academic All-Big Ten in his senior year.

Michael Couture played 14 games in 2021. The Blue Bombers offense helped the offense, led by Zach Collaros and Andrew Harris, to lead the CFL in scoring on their way to winning their second straight Grey Cup championship.

The Blue Bombers drafted Couture in the second round (10th pick) in the 2016 CFL Draft out of Simon Frasier. He played 36 games at Simon Frasier in four seasons and was a 2014 Great Northwest Conference First Team All-Star.
