On Tuesday, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers re-signed defensive back Winston Rose to a one-year contract extension through the 2022 season. Rose was set to be a free agent next week.
Winston Rose (28-years-old) played three games in 2021 with five tackles. This will be Rose’s third season with the Blue Bombers.
Rose signed with the Los Angeles Rams in 2016 as an undrafted free agent out of New Mexico State. Rose tried out for the Rams and Indianapolis Colts in 2016 before heading to the CFL with the Toronto Argonauts in 2016. He was on the Argonauts’ practice squad.
In 2017, Rose signed with the Ottawa Redblacks, playing four games with 21 tackles. In 2018, Rose signed with the BC Lions and played 18 games with 32 tackles, eight special teams tackles, and five interceptions.
Then in 2019, he joined the Blue Bombers and played a key role in helping them win their first Grey Cup championship in 29 years. Rose played 18 games with 58 tackles, nine interceptions, and one touchdown.
After the 2019 season, Rose went back to the NFL with the Cincinnati Bengals on their practice squad before returning to the Blue Bombers in 2021.
At New Mexico State, Rose played 26 games in three seasons (2013-15) with 106 tackles, 13 pass blocks, five interceptions, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and one block.
