Winnipeg Blue Bombers lock up RB Johnny Augustine for two more years

On Thursday, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers re-signed running back Johnny Augustine to a two-year contract extension through the 2023 season.

Johnny Augustine (28-years-old) played 14 games in 2021 with 40 carries for 285-yards. In three seasons with the Blue Bombers, Augustine played 39 games with 85 carries for 578-yards, one touchdown, nine catches for 92-yards, and one touchdown. Augustine has helped the Blue Bombers win two Grey Cup championships.

Augustine signed with the Edmonton Eskimos as an undrafted free agent out of Guelph. He also had a brief stint with the Saskatchewan Roughriders before signing with the Blue Bombers in May 2016.

Johnny Augustine played 30 games in five seasons (2013-18) at the University of Guelph Gryphons with 421 carries for 2,503 yards, 24 touchdowns, 32 catches for 434 yards, and three touchdowns.
