Calgary Stampeders bring back WR Richie Sindani

On Friday, the Calgary Stampeders re-signed wide receiver Richie Sindani to a one-year contract extension. This will be Sindani’s fourth season in Calgary. In addition, the Stampeders signed DL Jeremiah Valoaga and DB Darius Williams.

Richie Sindani (26-years-old) played 14 games in 2021, with 26 catches for 262-yards and two touchdowns. The Stampeders drafted Sindani in the eighth-round (70th pick) in the 2017 CFL Draft out of the University of Calgary.

In three seasons with Calgary, Sindani played 47 games with 66 catches for 731 yards, and two touchdowns, including winning the 2018 Grey Cup championship.

Before the Stampeders, Sindani played 20 games in three seasons (2013-2015) at the University of Regina with 33 catches for 467-yards and three touchdowns.

In 2016, Sindani played eight games for the Calgary Colts (CJFL) with 31 catches for 414 yards and two touchdowns. In 2017, he transferred to the University of Calgary, playing six games with 23 receptions for 280-yards and one touchdown.

Jeremiah Valoaga (27-years-old) recently was on the New York Jets practice squad. Valoaga played four seasons (2012-2016) at UNLV, playing 39 games with 87 tackles, 8.5 sacks, seven pass blocks, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.

In the NFL, Valoaga played 13 games for the Detroit Lions and Oakland Raiders with six tackles, one pass block, and one sack.

Darius Williams (23-years-old) played 14 games in 2021 with the Edmonton Elks with 30 tackles, six special teams tackles, and one forced fumble. He also played for the Lions in The Spring League.

In college, Williams played 50 games in four seasons (2015-2018) at Colorado State-Pueblo with 178 tackles, five sacks, 16 interceptions, 58 pass blocks, three forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries.
