Montreal Alouettes brings back Wieneke, Stanback, and Ackie

On Monday, the Montreal Alouettes re-signed wide receiver Jake Wieneke, running back William Stanback, and defensive lineman Chris Ackie. Stanback and Ackie signed new two-year contracts, while Wieneke for one year.

Jake Wieneke (27-years-old) played 14 games in 2021, with 56 catches for 898 yards and 11 touchdowns. In 2021, he was selected as CFL East All-Star and CFL All-Star.

In his rookie year in 2019, Wieneke played 18 games with 41 catches for 569 yards and eight touchdowns. He took home the Frank M. Gibson Trophy in 2019 for the most outstanding rookie in the East Division.

Before coming to the CFL, Wieneke played 53 games in four seasons (2014-17) at South Dakota State with 288 catches for 5,157 yards and 59 touchdowns.

After college, he signed with the Minnesota Vikings but was released. He tried out for the Salt Lake Stallions of the AAF but was released.

William Stanback (27-years-old) played 12 games in 2021 with 193 carries for 1,176 yards, three touchdowns, and 16 catches for 114-yards. This will be his fourth season in Montreal. Stanback has played 42 games in three seasons with 444 carries for 2,763 yards, eight touchdowns, 100 catches for 756 yards, and two touchdowns.

Chris Ackie (30-years-old) played 14 games with 48 tackles, six sacks, and two interceptions. This will be Ackie’s seventh year in Montreal. He’s played 76 games with 195 tackles, 23 special teams tackles, eight sacks, four interceptions, one touchdown, and four forced fumbles. In 2018, he played three games for the Ottawa Redblacks with seven tackles and one special teams tackle.

In addition, the Alouettes signed LB Kerfalla Exumé (Montreal), OL Chris Schleuger (UAB), QB David Alexander (Portland State).
