Lehigh Valley Phantoms Signs Goalie Alex Sakellaropoulos

Lehigh Valley Phantoms

On Tuesday, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms signed goalie Alex Sakellaropoulos to a player tryout contract (PTO) from the Adirondack Thunder of the ECHL.

This comes after Carter Hart had an eye infection and missed yesterday’s game, while Kirill Ustimenko was called up to the Flyers to backup Martin Jones.

Meanwhile, Felix Sandstrom is injured, and the only goalies available for the Phantoms are Garrett Metcalf and Pat Nagle.

Alex Sakellaropoulos (27-years-old) started 16 games this year for the Thunder with a 6-10 record, allowing 57 goals on 502 shots (0.886 SV%) in 933 minutes played (3.67 GAA).

In his ECHL career, Sakellaropoulos has played in 78 games with a 33-32-4-2 record, allowing 222 goals on 2,352 shots (0.906 SV%) in 4,384 minutes (3.04 GAA).

In the AHL, Sakellaropoulos played two games for the Springfield Thunderbirds during the 2018-19 season with a 0-0-2 record, allowing six goals on 54 shots (0.900 SV%) in 124 minutes (2.90 GAA).

The Phantoms are back on the road tomorrow night against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at 7:05 pm from the Mohegan Sun Arena.
