Philadelphia Stars Day 2 USFL Draft Recap

The Philadelphia Stars continued to add players on day two of the USFL draft, starting with wide receivers. The other positions in the draft were safeties, kickers, running backs, and more. If you missed day one coverage, click here.

Thirteenth-Round Pick 104: Devin Gray (WR)

Devin Gray (26-years-old) was with the Baltimore Ravens in 2021. He played three preseason games with four catches for 46-yards.

Gray signed with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent in 2018 from Cincinnati. Gray also played for the Generals in the TSL in 2021.

Gray played 24 games in two seasons (2016-17) at Cincinnati with 86 catches for 1,304 yards and eight touchdowns. Devin Gray also had 13 punt returns for 110-yards.

Fourteenth-Round Pick 105: Jordan Suell (WR)

Jordan Suell (24-years-old) tried out for the New England Patriots in 2021. In 2020, Suell played four games for the Generals in the TSL with 12 catches for 325-yards and four touchdowns.

Suell played 38 games in four seasons (2016-19) at Southern Oregon with 112 catches for 2,184 yards and 27 touchdowns.

Fifteenth-Round Pick 120: Brennan Eagles (WR)

Brennan Eagles (23-years-old) tried out for the Dallas Cowboys in 2021. He played two preseason games with one catch for 25-yards.

Eagles played 32 games in three seasons (2018-20) at the University of Texas with 61 catches for 1,026 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Sixteenth-Round Pick 121: Diondre Overton (WR)

Diondre Overton (23-years-old) went undrafted in the 2020 NFL Draft from Clemson. Overton is a two-time National Champion.

He played 51 games in four seasons (2016-19) with 52 catches for 777-yards, seven touchdowns, and one carry for three yards. Overton tried out for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2021

Seventeenth-Round Pick 136: Maurice Alexander (WR)

Maurice Alexander (24-years-old) played 38 games in four seasons (2016-19) at FIU with 65 catches for 772-yards, six touchdowns, 103 carries for 273-yards, and three touchdowns.

Alexander began his FIU career as a quarterback before switching to wide receiver. He had 72 of 130 completions for 849-yards, two touchdowns, and eight interceptions. On special teams, Alexander had two kick returns for 34-yards, 25 punt returns for 406-yards, and two touchdowns.

Eighteenth-Round Pick 137: Jack Tocho (S)

Jack Tocho (26-years-old) played four games with the Los Angeles Wildcats of the XFL in 2020 with two interceptions. In 2019, he played for the Birmingham Iron of the AAF with one interception.

The Minnesota Vikings drafted Tocho in the seventh round (245th pick) in the 2017 NFL Draft from NC State. Tocho was also with the Washington Redskins and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Tocho played 49 games in four seasons (2013-16) at NC State with 122 tackles, one sack, 26 pass breakups, and six interceptions.

Nineteenth-Round Pick 152: Cody Brown (S)

Cody Brown (26-years-old) was with the Houston Roughnecks of the XFL in 2020 with 24 tackles, two interceptions, and one sack. Brown also played for the Salt Lake Stallions of the AAF with 33 tackles, five pass breakups, and one interception.

Brown played his first two seasons at Independence Community College with 39 tackles, one fumble recovery, two interceptions, and nine pass breakups before transferring to Arkansas State after his sophomore year.

He played 25 games in two seasons (2015-16) for the Red Wolves with 128 tackles, 29 interceptions, eight touchdowns, 21 pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one special teams block.

Nineteenth-Round Compensatory Pick: Ladarius Wiley (S)

Ladarius Wiley (25-years-old) was with the Carolina Panthers in 2021 and played in two preseason games with four tackles. Wiley signed with the Tennessee Titans as an undrafted free agent from Vanderbilt in 2019.

In 2020, Wiley played five games for the Los Angeles Wildcats of the XFL with 13 tackles, one sack, and one interception.

Wiley played 51 games in five seasons (2014-18) at Vanderbilt with 255 tackles, two sacks, and two interceptions.

Twentieth-Round Pick 156: Sean Brown (C)

Sean Brown (29-years-old) was a member of Team 9 of the XFL. Brown played for the Salt Lake Stallions in 2019, and the Philadelphia Soul of the Arena Football League. In 2021, he was with the Generals of the TSL.

Brown played 22 games in two seasons (2014-15) at Mississippi Valley State after transferring from Nassau Community College, where he played two seasons.

Twenty-First Round Pick 165: Josh Banderas (LB)

Josh Banderas (27-years-old) played 43 games in four seasons (2013-16) at Nebraska with 232 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and three pass breakups.

In 2017, Banderas tried out for the Denver Broncos. In 2019, he played eight games for the Salt Lake Stallions of the AAF with seven tackles, and in 2021, he played for the Generals of the TSL.

Twenty-Second Pick 174: Jackson Scott-Brown (G)

Jackson Scott-Brown (24-years-old) played 35 games in three seasons (2016-18) at Northern Iowa. In his senior year, he helped the Panthers rack up 1,737 rushing yards and 2,775 receiving yards while the offense gave up 19 sacks. In 2020, he played for the Conquerors of the TSL fall season.

Twenty-Third Pick 179: Paul Nosworthy (OL)

Paul Nosworthy (24-years-old) played 36 games in three seasons (2017-19) at the University of Buffalo, playing left guard. In 2019, he was named to the All-MAC Second Team. In 2021, he played for the Generals of the TSL.

Twenty-Fourth Pick 187: Mike Barnett (DT)

Mike Barnett (24-years-old) tried out for the New England Patriots and Detroit Lions in 2021. Barnett played 46 games in four seasons (2015-19) at Georgia with 47 tackles and two pass breakups.

Twenty-Fifth Pick 198: Chris Nelson (DT)

Chris Nelson (26-years-old) played for four years at Texas. He played in 45 games with 109 tackles, 3.5 sacks, one pass defended, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. Nelson helped Texas win two bowl games, the Texas Bowl in 2017 and the Sugar Bowl in 2019.

After college, Nelson went undrafted in the 2019 NFL Draft. However, he had stints with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Tennessee Titans in training camp. He was recently with the Edmonton Elks of the CFL.

Twenty-Sixth Pick 203: Jerome Johnson (DT)

Jerome Johnson (23-years-old) played 45 games in four seasons (2017-20) at Indiana with 111 tackles, 13.5 sacks, one interception, one pass breakup, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, and one special teams block. In 2021, Johnson was waived by the Miami Dolphins.

Twenty-Seventh Pick 210: Darnell Holland (RB)

Darnell Holland (24-years-old) played for the Generals in 2021. He was named South Division Player of the Week in Week 5 against the Sea Lions after returning two kickoff returns for touchdowns plus a rushing touchdown.

Holland played 49 games in four seasons (2015-18) at Kennesaw State University with 244 carries for 2,431 yards, 26 touchdowns, 35 catches for 606-yards, and three touchdowns. In addition, Holland returned 20 kickoff returns for 597-yards and one touchdown on special teams.

 Twenty-Eighth Pick 223: Matt Colburn II (RB)

Matt Colburn II (24-years-old) played for the Blues in 2020 of the TSL. He also had a brief stint with the Toronto Argonauts. In 2019, Colburn tried out for the Los Angeles Rams.

Colburn played 47 games in four seasons (2015-18) at Wake Forrest with 542 carries for 2,550 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 34 catches for 306-yards.

Twenty-Ninth Pick 231: Jordan Moore (LB)

Jordan Moore (28-years-old) competed in track and field at LSU before transferring to UTSA as a graduate transfer. In 2016, he played 13 games with 49 tackles, one interception, four pass breakups, and one forced fumble.

In 2021, he tried to qualify for the Olympics in Tokyo but didn’t qualify. In 2019, Moore played five games for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats with five tackles and four special teams tackles. He was recently with the Toronto Argonauts in 2021.

Thirtieth-Round Pick 234: Te’Von Coney (LB)

Te’Von Coney (24-years-old) spent three seasons with the Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders on the practice squad. He played 50 games in four seasons (2015-18) at Notre Dame with 314 tackles, one interception, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries.

Thirty-First Pick 247: Solomon Wise (LB)

Solomon Wise (23-years-old) played seven games at Alcorn State as a graduate transfer with 29 tackles, one sack, and two fumble recoveries. At the University of Texas-San Antonio, Wise played 34 games with 17 tackles, one sack, one pass breakup, and one special teams block.

Thirty-Second Pick 249: Matt Mengel (K)

Matt Mengel (28-years-old) tried out for the Montreal Alouettes in 2021. Mengal played 25 games at UCLA with 113 punts for 4,535 yards, with his longest punt for 64-yards.

In 2020, Mengel kicked for the Generals of the TSL and made a 55-yard field goal in the championship game.

Thirty-Fourth Pick 269: Bug Howard (TE)

Bug Howard (27-years-old) was with the Buffalo Bills in 2021 on their practice squad. Howard had stints with the Colts, Browns, Panthers, Broncos, and Jaguars.

Howard played 53 games in four seasons (2013-16) at North Carolina with 146 catches for 2,048 yards and 18 touchdowns. In 2019, he played for the Atlanta Legends of the AAF, catching 17 passes for 220-yards.

 Thirty-Fifth Pick 276: Ryan Navarro (LS)

Ryan Navarro (27-years-old) last played in 2020 with the Los Angeles Wildcats of the XFL. Navarro played 24 games in two seasons (2015-16) at Oregon State with six tackles on special teams. He spent his first two seasons (2013-14) at Riverside City College.
