On Tuesday night in Birmingham, Alabama, the USFL held day one of the USFL Draft. In the first round, teams drafted a quarterback, followed by defensive ends in rounds two through four. From rounds five through seven, it was offensive linemen, defensive backs in rounds eight through eleven, and quarterbacks in round twelve.

First-Round Pick 3: Bryan Scott (QB)

Bryan Scott (26-years-old) recently tried out with the Indianapolis Colts. He was on the practice squad of both the BC Lions and Edmonton Eskimos.

Scott played 33 games in four seasons (2013-16) at Occidental with 763 of 1,205 completions for 9,073 yards, 77 touchdowns, 22 interceptions, 158 carries for 402-yards, and 13 touchdowns. He was a two-time First-team All-SCIAC (2015-16) and SCIAC Player of the Year (2016).

Bryan Scott played under Bart Andrus with The Spring League’s Generals. In the 2020 championship game against the Aviators, Scott was 22-32 for 264-yards and three touchdowns when the Generals won 37-14. He was named the TSL MVP for the second time in his career.

Second-Round Pick 14: Freedom Akinmoladun (DE/Edge)

Freedom Akinmoladun (26-years-old) recently played for the New York Jets in 2021. He played in five games in the NFL for the Jets and the Cincinnati Bengals making three tackles. In 2019, he was on the New York Giants practice squad.

Akinmoladun played 48 games in four seasons (2015-18) at Nebraska with 106 tackles, 12 sacks, two pass blocks, and one forced fumble.

Third-Round Pick 23: Gus Cumberlander (DE/Edge)

Gus Cumberlander (24-years-old) was recently with the New Orleans Saints in 2020. At Oregon, Cumberlander played 30 games in four seasons (2016-19) with 23 tackles, 6.5 sacks, and two fumble recoveries.

Fourth-Round Pick 30: Carroll Phillips (LB/Edge)

Carroll Phillips (29-years-old) recently played for The Generals in the TSL. Phillips signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent from Illinois.

He played 11 games in the NFL with five tackles. Phillips had stints with the Indianapolis Colts and Atlanta Falcons.

Carroll Phillips played 31 games in three seasons (2014-16) at Illinois with 88 tackles, 12 sacks, two pass blocks, one forced fumble, and three fumble recoveries.

Fifth-Round Pick 39: Blake Alan Camper (OL)

Blake Alan Camper (25-years-old) was recently with the Toronto Argonauts of the CFL. He never played a game for the Argo’s. Camper played 40 games in four seasons (2015-18) at South Carolina at right tackle.

Sixth-Round Pick 42: Michael Rodriquez III (OL)

Michael Rodriquez III (25-years-old) was recently with the Alphas of the TSL. In 2020, he had a brief stint with the Ottawa Redblacks.

Rodriquez played 41 games in four seasons (2015-18) at Louisiana Tech at left tackle. In 2018, he was an All-Conference USA Honorable Mention.

Seventh-Round Pick 55: Jacob Paul Burton (OL)

Jacob Paul Burton (24-years-old) was recently with the New York Giants in 2021. Burton played 29 games at UCLA for three seasons (2017-19) at right tackle. In 2020, he transferred to Baylor and played eight games at right guard.

Eighth-Round Pick 58: Channing Stribling (CB)

Channing Stribling (27-years-old) played four games with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats with six tackles. In 2020, he played five games for the Seattle Dragons of the XFL with 14 tackles, one interception, and three pass blocks.

At Michigan, Stribling played 47 games in four seasons (2013-16) with 68 tackles, one sack, six interceptions, 22 pass blocks, and one forced fumble.

Ninth-Round Pick 71: Marcus Lewis (CB)

Marcus Lewis (25-years-old) recently played four games for the Ottawa Redblacks in 2021 with nine tackles. Lewis played 12 games in two seasons (2015-16) at Florida State with 21 tackles, two pass breakups, one fumble recovery, and one interception.

He spent his last two seasons (2017-18) at Maryland playing 16 games with 44 tackles, two interceptions, six pass breakups, and one fumble recovery.

Tenth-Round Pick 74: Mazzi Wilkins (CB)

Mazzi Wilkins (26-years-old) was on the practice squads of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Washington Football Team, and Baltimore Ravens.

Wilkins played for the Alphas in the TSL in 2021. In the NFL, Wilkins played five games for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2019 with three tackles.

Mazzi Wilkins played 47 games in four seasons (2015-18) at South Florida with 110 tackles, 0.5 sacks, three interceptions, 22 pass blocks, and one fumble recovery.

Eleventh-Round Pick 87: Bradley Sylve (CB)

Bradley Sylve (29-years-old) last played in 2020 with the DC Defenders and Los Angeles Wildcats. Sylve had one tackle, one pass block, one interception, and one touchdown in five games.

In 2019, Sylve played eight games with the Birmingham Iron of the AAF with 27 tackles, six pass blocks, two interceptions, and one forced fumble.

Sylve spent five seasons at Alabama, making 40 tackles and seven pass breakups. He was part of two Alabama championship teams in 2011 and 2012.

Twelfth-Round Pick 94: Case Cookus (QB)

Case Cookus (26-years-old) was recently with the Edmonton Elks. Cookus played in 41 games at Northern Arizona University with 892 passes for 12,082 yards, 105 touchdowns, 21 interceptions, 206 carries for 232-yards and six touchdowns.

Cookus won the Jerry Rice Award in 2015, First Team All-Big Sky Conference (2015), Big Sky Conference Co-Freshmen of the Year (2015), and STATS FCS Freshman Player of the Year (2015).

After college, Cookus went undrafted in the 2020 NFL Draft and signed with the New York Giants but was released in August 2020. He had tryouts with the Broncos, Raiders, and Vikings last year.
