On Wednesday, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms made a couple of moves. First, they loaned defensemen Ryan MacKinnon to the Reading Royals of the ECHL and released goalie Garrett Metcalf from his player tryout contract (PTO).
This year, Ryan MacKinnon (27-years-old) played 15 games for the Phantoms with ten shots. He spent his first three seasons with the Bridgeport Islanders (2017-20).
In 32 career AHL games, MacKinnon has three assists. MacKinnon has played two games in Reading this year with one assist.
Garrett Metcalf (25-years-old) played four games for the Phantoms with a 2-1-1 record, playing 241 minutes with 105 saves (0.882 SV%) and 14 goals allowed (3.48 GAA).
Garrett Metcalf returns to the Utah Grizzlies, where he is 2-2-1 in five games, a .932 SV%, and allowing 1.84 GAA.
The Phantoms are back in action tonight against the Providence Bruins from the PPL Center at 7:05 pm.
