On Tuesday, former Lehigh Valley IronPigs outfielder Cornelius Randolph signed a minor-league contract with the Chicago White Sox.
Randolph is headed to the team’s Triple-A Charlotte Knights. The Philadelphia Phillies drafted Randolph in the first round (10th pick) in the 2015 MLB Draft.
Cornelius Randolph (24-years-old) played 48 games for the IronPigs in 2021 with 145 at-bats, 26 runs, 34 hits, seven doubles, five home runs, 20 RBIs, 19 walks, 50 strikeouts, and five stolen bases. He batted .234, a .323 OBP, .386 SLG, and a .709 OPS.
On May 23rd, 2021, Randolph was named AAA East Offensive Player of the Week after going 13-for-22 with four doubles, three home runs, nine RBI, and eight runs over six games against the Syracuse Mets.
Last season, he dealt with an elbow sprain and played five games with the Phillies Gulf Coast League team before returning to Lehigh Valley. Randolph also spent time with the Clearwater Threshers, Reading Fightin Phils, and Lakewood BlueClaws.
