The Edmonton Elks signed veteran kicker Sergio Castillo to a two-year contract on Monday.

Sergio Castillo (31-years-old) was acquired by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 2021 from the BC Lions for a 2022 fourth-round pick.

Castillo played three games, going 7-9 (77.8%) with his longest field goal for 50-yards, helping the Blue Bombers win their second Grey Cup title.

Castillo has played 41 career games in the CFL for the Blue Bombers twice, Ottawa Redblacks, Hamilton Tiger-Cats, and BC Lions. He made 87 of 101 field goals (86.1%), and his longest field goal was 57-yards.

Castillo has also punted the ball 134 times, averaging 44.4-yards per game. In 2019, Castillo was selected as a CFL West All-Star and CFL All-Star.

Outside of the CFL, Castillo played for the Houston Roughnecks (XFL), making five of nine field goals (55.6%), and the New York Jets (NFL), making 8 of 13 field goals (61.5%).
