The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed NCAA Division II champion defensive back Stephen Denmark on Wednesday.

Stephen Denmark (25-years-old) tried out for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers in 2021. The Chicago Bears drafted Denmark in the seventh round (238th pick) in the 2019 NFL Draft but was cut during training camp. Denmark also tried out for the Cleveland Browns.

Stephen Denmark 35 games in four seasons at Valdosta State (2015-18) as a wide receiver for three seasons before switching to defensive back in 2018. On offense, Denmark caught 30 passes for 348 yards and three touchdowns.

Denmark had 65 tackles, one sack, four interceptions, 12 pass breakups, and one forced fumble on defense. In 2018, Valdosta State won the Division II championship over Ferris State 49-47.
