The Reading Royals (36-15-6-2) played the first of two games against the Norfolk Admirals (21-34-2-3) at the Santander Arena on Friday night.
Norfolk forward Noah Corson (16) put the Admirals up 1-0 at 5:45 in the first period with an assist from Marly Quince. Then at 11:43, Royals defenseman Mason Millman (6) tied the game 1-1 with assists from Jackson Cressey and Thomas Ebbing.
In the second period, Ryan Valentini (12) scored a power-play goal for Norfolk that put the Admirals back up 2-1 with assists from Christian Hausinger and Alex Tonge.
At 9:07 in the third period, Reading forward Trevor Gooch (30) tied the game 2-2 with assists from Thomas Ebbing and Patrick Bajkov. Sixteen seconds later, the Admirals regained a 3-2 lead by Ryan Valentini (13). It was his second goal of the game.
The Royals lost to the Admirals 3-2. They finished the night with 36 shots, 0/6 on the power-play, and Mike Robinson made 15 of 18 saves.
