On Wednesday, the Edmonton Elks signed former Central Methodist linebacker Mar’quess Daniels. The Elks also announced that defensive back Josh Woodman was released.
Mar’quess Daniels played two seasons at Arizona Western College (2016-17, 2017-18) with 76 tackles, 7.5 sacks, two interceptions, and three fumble recoveries. The college ended its football program after the 2018 season.
Daniels went to Central Methodist for his last two years (2020-21) with 89 tackles, eight sacks, four forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, three pass breakups, one block on special teams, and four interceptions.
Josh Woodman played seven games for the Elks in 2021 with one tackle on special teams. It was his second stint in Edmonton (2016-18, 2021). In 2019, he played for the BC Lions. The Elks drafted Woodman in the fifth round (44th pick) in the 2016 CFL Draft.
Woodman is a five-year pro with 35 tackles, 17 tackles on special teams, one sack, one interception, and one forced fumble in 49 games.
Woodman played four seasons at Western (2012-15) with 72 tackles, one forced fumble, 11 pass breakups, and nine interceptions in 25 games.
