Calgary Stampeders

The Calgary Stampeders placed defensive lineman Tracy Sprinkle on the retired list and activated running back Nico Leonard from the suspended list on Monday.

Tracy Sprinkle played two games for Stampeders in 2021 with two tackles. Sprinkle is a native of Cleveland, Ohio. He played 29 games in five seasons at Ohio State (2013-17) with 20 tackles, one pass breakup, and one forced fumble.

After college, Sprinkle tried out for the Carolina Panthers, Cleveland Browns, and Houston Texans. He played for the Atlanta Legends (AAF) and DC Defenders (XFL).

In 2019 for the Legends, he had 22 tackles and five sacks. In 2020 with the Defenders, he had 14 tackles and one sack.

Nico Leonard is a native of South Africa. Leonard is a former rugby player. He signed with the Stampeders as a free agent in 2021, but he was placed on the suspended list due to international travel restrictions that prevented him from attending training camp.
