The Reading Royals (43-16-7-2) completed the three-game sweep over the Maine Mariners (30-31-5-3) Sunday afternoon at the Santander Arena.
There were no goals in the first period. With less than two minutes left in the second period, the Mariners broke the scoreless tie by Keltie Jeri-Leon (19) that put Maine up 1-0. Nick Jermain and Nate Kallen assisted Leon’s goal.
In the third period, Royals forward Trevor Gooch (33) tied the game 1-1 at 8:47. The game went into overtime.
In overtime, Royals forward Patrick Bajkov (26) scored a game-winning power-play goal that gave Reading a 2-1 win. Patrick McNally assisted Bajkov’s goal.
The Royals finished the game with 16 shots, 1/2 on the power-play, and Logan Flodell made 27 of 28 saves.
