The Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed former Hamilton Tiger-Cats wide receiver Jalen Saunders to a two-year contract on Thursday.
Jalen Saunders (29-years-old) was with the Ottawa Redblacks in 2021 but was moved to the retired list. Saunders was initially signed with the Redblacks in 2020. However, the season was canceled due to COVID.
Saunders played two seasons in Hamilton (2017-18) with 121 catches for 1,909-yards, six touchdowns, and two carries for 12-yards in 25 games. Saunders returned two punts for 15-yards and eight kick returns for 175-yards on special teams.
Jalen Saunders began his collegiate career at Fresno State (2010-11) with 80 catches for 1,527-yards, 15 touchdowns, and 22 carries for 200-yards in 26 games. He was named to the 2011 First team All-WAC in his sophomore year.
After Fresno State, Saunders transferred to Oklahoma (2012-13). He caught 123 passes for 1,558-yards and 11 touchdowns. Saunders had 25 punt returns for 396-yards and three touchdowns on special teams. After the 2013 season, he was named Second-team All-Big 12.
The New York Jets drafted Saunders in the fourth round (104th pick) in the 2013 NFL Draft. He was used on special teams with six punt returns for 26-yards.
After the Jets released him, he tried out for the Arizona Cardinals, Seattle Seahawks, New Orleans Saints, New England Patriots, and Chicago Bears.
