On Friday, the Saskatchewan Roughriders signed Cincinnati All-Time leading punter James Smith.

James Smith (27-years-old) played four seasons at the University of Cincinnati (2017-20). The Wangaratta, Australia, native made 235 career punts for 10,245-yards (43.6 AVG), three touchbacks, 111 fair catches, 91 punts inside the 20-yard line, and 43 punts that went more than 50-yards in 49 games. In addition, he had one carry for 14-yards and three tackles.

Smith is a two-time First-Team All-American Athletic Conference (2017, 2018), two-time Second-Team All-AAC (2019, 2020), and a 2018 Ray Guy Award Finalist (most outstanding punter). Smith played in the 2021 Reese’s Bowl and was invited to the 2021 NFL Combine.
