On Monday night, the Tampa Bay Bandits (1-0) took on the Pittsburgh Maulers (0-1) from Protective Stadium, wrapping up Week 1. The game was originally to take place Sunday night, but severe weather postponed the game.
Tampa Bay quarterback Jordan Ta’amu went 20/32 for 185 yards, one touchdown, two interceptions, and one carry for seven yards. Bandits running back BJ Emmons had 19 carries for 40 yards, one touchdown, and three catches for 23 yards.
Tight end Cheyenne O’Grady led the Bandits in receiving yards with eight catches for 86 yards. The Bandits’ defense had two sacks and two pass breakups.
Meanwhile, Pittsburgh quarterback Josh Love was 9/16 for 121 yards. Backup quarterback Kyle Lauletta went 2/10 for eight yards. Maulers’ running back Garrett Groshek had 16 carries for 55 yards.
Pittsburgh wide receiver Jeff Thomas led the team in receiving yards with four catches for 43 yards. The Maulers’ defense had one sack, two interceptions, and seven pass breakups.
Next week, the Pittsburgh Maulers battle the Philadelphia Stars on Saturday at 12 pm on FOX. The Tampa Bay Bandits play the New Orleans Breakers on Sunday at 3 pm on NBC. Tickets for those can be purchased thanks to our friends at StubHub.
