Toronto Argonauts signs former Maryland running back Javon Leake

On Tuesday, the Toronto Argonauts signed former Maryland Terrapins running back Javon Leake.

Javon Leake (23-years-old) attended training camp for the Detroit Lions in 2021. Leake signed with the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent in 2020 but was cut during training camp. Then, he signed with the Washington Football Team in November 2020.

He played one game for Washington in week 14 against the San Francisco 49ers. After the game, he was reverted back to the practice squad.

The Greensboro, North Carolina, native played three seasons at Maryland (2017-19) with 134 carries for 1,110-yards, 17 touchdowns, and nine carries for 55-yards in 32 games. In addition, Leake had 57 kick returns for 1,437-yards and three touchdowns on special teams.

In 2019, Leake was named First Team All-Big Ten Return Specialist and the Rodgers-Dwight Big Ten Return Specialist of the Year.
