On Wednesday, the Saskatchewan Roughriders signed former Florida State defensive back Levonta Taylor and former Liberty running back Frankie Hickson.
Levonta Taylor (24-years-old) played for the Sea Lions (TSL) in 2021. In 2020, he signed with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent but was released during training camp. The Virginia native played four seasons at Florida State (2016-19) with 90 tackles, four interceptions, two touchdowns, one forced fumble, seven pass breakups, and one sack.
Frankie Hickson (25-years-old) played five seasons at Liberty (2015-19) with 610 carries for 2,898-yards and 30 touchdowns in 47 games. The Lynchburg, Virginia, native became the 15th player in Liberty history to rush for a 1,000-yard season in 2018.
Frankie Hickson finished his career as the all-time leader in purpose yards (4,494), earning Phil Steele’s Independent All-Conference First-Team honors after his senior year.
Hickson had 707 kick returns as a freshman, averaging 25.2-yards per kick return, which was the second-most in program history. He was named Big South second-team all-conference twice in 2016 and 2017.
