Philadelphia Eagles select OL Cam Jurgens and LB Nakobe Dean

Philadelphia Eagles

On day two of the 2022 NFL Draft from Las Vegas, Nevada, the Philadelphia Eagles selected former Nebraska center Cam Jurgens in the second round (51st pick) and former Georgia linebacker Nakobe Dean in the third round (83rd pick).

Cam Jurgens (22-years-old) played twelve games in 2021. He helped the Cornhuskers’ offense have 300-yards in rushing and passing against Fordham. When Nebraska played Northwestern, he helped them 657 in total yards and scored 56 points. After the season, he was named Third-Team All-Big Ten and Nebraska Offensive Lineman of the Year.

Jurgens played 32 games in four seasons (2018-21). He began his Nebraska career as a tight end before switching to center in 2018. However, he played one game in his freshman year, suffering a season-ending injury.

Jurgens won the Class B state champion in discus four times and three times in shot put in high school. Jurgens ran a 4.92 40-yard dash and 25 bench press at the NFL Combine.

Nakobe Dean (22-years-old) had 72 tackles, six sacks, two interceptions, eight pass breakups, and two forced fumbles in 15 games in 2021. He helped the Bulldogs win their first National Championship title since 1980.

After the season, Dean was named All-SEC First-Team, and SEC Defensive Player of the Year. Dean was projected to go in the first round. However, he suffered a pec injury and has refused to get surgery and let it heal naturally, leaving many teams to pass on him. Because of the injury, he did not participate in the NFL Combine.

Dean played three seasons at Georgia (2019-21) with 168 tackles, 7.5 sacks, two interceptions, ten pass breakups, and three forced fumbles.
