On Monday night, the Reading Royals (4-2) closed out the first round with a 2-1 win over the Maine Mariners (2-4) at the Santander Arena. The Royals win the series 4-2 and will play either the Newfoundland Growlers or the Trois-Rivieres Lions.

In the first period, the Mariners took a 1-0 lead at 9:08 by Nick Master (3) with assists from Mathew Santos and Michael Kim.

Seven minutes and twenty-seven seconds into the second period, the Royals tied the game 1-1 by Trevor Gooch (2) with assists from Kenny Hausinger and Frank DiChiara.

Finally, in the third period, Royals forward Jacob Pritchard (2) scored a power-play goal at 7:09 with assists from Dominic Cormier and Kevin Conley.

The Royals finished the night with 33 shots, 1/3 on the power-play, and Pat Nagle made 30 of 31 saves.
