The Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed former Utah Utes punter Tom Hackett on Wednesday. The Blue Bombers drafted Hackett in the sixth round of the 2022 CFL Global Draft.
Tom Hackett (29-years-old) has not played professional football in six years. The Melbourne, Australia, native played four seasons at Utah (2012-15) with 242 punts for 10, 933-yards (45.2 AVG), 26 touchbacks, 75 fair catches, 106 punts inside the 20-yard line, 68 punts from 50+ yards, and four carries for 106-yards in 47 games.
Hackett is a two-time Ray Guy Award winner as the nation’s top punter, three-time All-Pac-12 First-Team (2013-15), two-time Consensus All-American (2014-15), and the Pac-12 All-Century Team Selection.
Hackett went undrafted in 2016 and signed with the New York Jets but was released during training camp. Hackett has been co-hosting a sports radio show on KALL in Salt Lake City, Utah.
