On Sunday afternoon at Protective Stadium, the New Jersey Generals (5-1) defeated the Houston Gamblers (1-5) on the last play of the game, 26-25.
New Jersey Generals’ quarterback De’Andre Johnson went 4/4 for 52-yards, one touchdown, and one carry for four yards. However, Johnson was injured in the first quarter, and back quarterback Luis Perez played. Perez went 18/24 for 159-yards, one touchdown, three carries for -1-yard, and one touchdown.
Generals’ running back Trey Williams had 16 carries for 76-yards, one touchdown, and one catch for seven yards, while wide receiver KaVontae Turpin had ten catches for 106-yards and two touchdowns. The Generals’ defense allowed 228-yards, with 39 tackles, one pass breakup, and one interception.
Houston Gamblers’ quarterback Clayton Thorson went 15/19 for 171-yards, three touchdowns, one interception, and two carries for ten yards. Gamblers’ running back Dalyn Dawkins had six carries for 24-yards, one catch for four yards while running back Mark Thompson had 11 carries for 23-yards, three catches for 25-yards, and two touchdowns.
Gamblers’ wide receiver Teo Redding had three catches for 76-yards and two touchdowns. The Gamblers’ defense allowed 358-yards, with 88 tackles, five sacks, and one touchdown.
