Pato O’Ward joined the team in 2020. He has three wins, four poles, 17 top-five, and 23 top-ten finishes in 35 starts. He was named the 2020 Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the Year.

“The entire team is excited that Pato is on board for the long haul. He is an important part of our plan here at Arrow McLaren SP, his energy and work ethic is infectious,” said Arrow McLaren SP President Taylor Kiel. “Having watched him develop since he joined the team, I look forward to building on these foundations to increase our performance and achieve our common goals in the years to come.”

Pato O’Ward (23-years-old) is currently ranked seventh in points with one win at the Grand Prix of Alabama, two top-five, and two top-ten finishes. The Monterrey, Mexico, native is starting seventh in this Sunday’s 106th Indianapolis 500.

“I am incredibly happy to have locked in my future with Arrow McLaren SP. This team has truly felt like home for me over the past three years, and I can’t wait to build on our success as we compete for wins and championships,” said O’Ward. “I want to thank the whole team for this opportunity. This is exactly where I want to be.”

Before joining Arrow McLaren SP, O’Ward raced for Andretti Harding Steinbrenner Autosport for two seasons with two top-ten finishes in eight starts. Before heading to IndyCar in 2018, O’Ward raced in the Road to Indy, winning the 2018 Indy Lights presented by Cooper Tires championship after winning nine races, nine poles, 15 top-five, and 17 top-ten finishes in 17 starts. In 2016, he raced in the Indy Pro 2000 Series with seven wins, five poles, 12 top-five, and 16 top-ten finishes in 16 starts, finishing second in the championship to Aaron Telitz.

Pato O’Ward also competed in the 2017 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in the Prototype class for the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring.

“Pato is an important part of McLaren’s future in IndyCar, and we are happy that he will be a key part of Arrow McLaren SP for years to come,” said Arrow McLaren SP CEO Zak Brown. “He is an incredibly talented driver who has already shown what he is capable of in IndyCar, and I look forward to watching him take the next step in his promising career.”
