The Philadelphia Stars signed former Oregon State linebacker Avery Roberts and former Auburn defensive tackles Tony Fair on Friday.
Avery Roberts (23-years-old) led the PAC-12 with 128 tackles, the fifth most in Oregon State history, with 1.5 sacks, one interception, three pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 12 games during the 2021 season. Roberts was named All-Pac-12 First Team, Phil Steele All-Pac-12 First Team, and Phil Steele Third-Team All-American.
The Wilmington, Delaware, native played three seasons for the Beavers (2019-21) with 280 tackles, four sacks, one interception, five pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 29 games. Before transferring to Oregon State, Roberts played one season at Nebraska (2017) with four tackles in 12 games. Roberts recently attended the Seattle Seahawks rookie mini-camp.
Tony Fair (25-years-old) had nine tackles and one sack in 12 games for his only season at Auburn in 2021. Before transferring to Auburn, the South Bend, Indiana, native played two seasons at the University of Alabama-Birmingham with 57 tackles, two sacks, three forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery.
In 2017, Fair played at Pima Community College with 46 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, and two sacks. He started his collegiate career at Indiana State in 2015 but did not see any action.
This Sunday, the Philadelphia Stars take on the Houston Gamblers from Protective Stadium in Birmingham, Alabama, at 6 pm on Peacock.
