On Friday night at Carey Stadium, the Ocean City Nor’easters (1-0-1) got their first win of the season, 2-1 over the Philadelphia Lone Star FC (0-2-1). It was the Nor’easters fifth straight home opener win.
Both teams canceled each other out in the first half. In the second half, the Nor’easters took a 1-0 lead in the 46th minute when Ocean City put pressure on Lone Star FC goalkeeper Goodwill Agbaadem, forcing a turnover, and forward Nicolas Cam Orellana scored a wide-open net with the left foot for the goal.
In the 58th minute, Lone Star FC tied the game 1-1 when Hassan Kane made a cross-pass to Aboubacar Camara for the goal.
Finally, in the 76th minute, the Nor’easter scored the game-winning goal. Off the corner kick, Gavin Flynn headed the ball into the top left corner of the net by Alessandro Arlotti for his second goal of the season and a 2-1 lead.
The Nor’easters defense held off Lone Star FC for the final 15 minutes of the game and came away with a 2-1 win.
