DPi cars getting ready to enter turn two at Belle Isle

On Saturday afternoon at Belle Isle Park in Detroit, Michigan, the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship took to the streets of Belle Isle for the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix.

Chip Ganassi Racing drivers Sebastien Bourdais and Renger van der Zande won the pole in DPI, while Vasser Sullivan Racing drivers Kyle Kirkwood and Ben Barnicoat won the pole in GTD. Sebastien Bourdais and Renger van der Zander, beating Meyer Shank Racing’s Oliver Jarvis and Tom Blomqvist in DPI.

In GTD, Vasser Sullivan Racing drivers Kyle Kirkwood and Ben Barnicoat beat Heart of Racing’s Ross Gunn and Roman De Angelis. It was Vasser’s first win of the season and the first GTD wins for Kirkwood and Barnicoat.

The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship heads to Watkins Glen International for the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen on Sunday, June 26th, at 10:40 am on USA Network and Peacock. Tickets for the race can be purchased thanks to our friends at StubHub.
